CANUCKS TAKES GAME 3 WITH 3-1 WIN IN CHICAGO
After a loss in Game 2 at home on Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks managed to pull out a win in the Windy City with the final score of 3-1. With Chicago coming into the United Center with a ton of momentum after a win in Vancouver, they failed to re-group as the Vancouver Canucks take it to the Blackhawks with a win and a 2-1 Series lead.
In the 1st Period with under 5 minutes to go, the Canucks open up the score once again by a goal by Mason Raymond. Ryan Kesler had an assist on that play after being on the forecheck to force Nikolai Khabibulin to give the puck away to Kevin Bieksa which forced a huge turnover, as Mason Raymond deposited it in the empty net from a great pass from Ryan Kesler. In the 2nd Period, Alex Edler took a shot from the point on the powerplay as Steve Bernier was there for the rebound to slap it home to give the Canucks a 2-0 lead. This was the Vancouver Canucks third 2-0 goal lead in the series. As the period went by, Alex Edler with his hard slap shot gets it to Henrik Sedin who kept swinging at the puck until he managed to get it 5-hole on Khabibulin which made the game 3-0; United Center was silenced. But 2 minutes after the goal, the Vancouver Canucks started to take more bad penalties to give the Blackhawks the advantage on the powerplay. On that powerplay, the Blackhawks managed to get the puck to the point as Brian Campbell was there to slap it home over the glove of Roberto Luongo to give the Blackhawks trailing only by 2 goals.
But it wasn't enough as the Vancouver Canucks played their defensive style game in the 3rd Period to hold the Blackhawks off for the 3-1 win at the United Center. The Blackhawks will look for more answers for Game 4 and will question about the lack of momentum.
Next game is on Thursday, May 7th at the United Center in Chicago.
